By Renato: Venus has just entered Virgo—a placement often given the worst reputation.
It’s considered dull, prudish, cold, and overly critical. But let me assure you (and I say this from experience): it’s often harder for the person who carries this Venus than for the one who loves them.
Venus in Virgo is traditionally in fall, meaning it’s not a comfortable position for this planet. For those without a well-placed or well-aspected Venus, many of life’s natural pleasures feel muted. They rarely feel at ease where they are or even where they live. Instead, they often carry a lingering sense of being different, inadequate, or out of place.
A poorly placed Venus intensifies the sting of humiliation, indifference, and hostility. Such individuals may accumulate so many disappointments that they hesitate to risk anything new (“it won’t work anyway”). They often feel blocked from personal fulfillment, struggle with self-esteem, and fear being judged as less-than. For them, neglecting self-care comes naturally—why bother, when they already believe themselves to be unattractive or undeserving? Venus in Virgo constantly battles the feeling of being less: less interesting, less beautiful, less loved, less popular, less happy.
Yet for those who love a Venus in Virgo, there is another story…
Loving someone with this placement means being cherished with infinite tenderness when you’re ill, supported and protected when you’re vulnerable, and welcomed home with care after a difficult day. In intimacy, they often prioritize their partner’s pleasure above their own.
This is how Venus in Virgo loves: through care, devotion, service, and quiet constancy. It isn’t the most romantic Venus—you won’t see grand gestures, serenades beneath windows, or dramatic vows of eternal passion. Nor is it prone to fiery jealousy or obsessive passion (unless Pluto or Mars are heavily involved, in which case Virgo’s attention to detail can become dangerously meticulous—every message and word scrutinized with unnerving precision).
Still, this Venus stands firm when life turns difficult, offering grounding strength and quiet wisdom. Practical and resourceful, she won’t waste money, nor will she let you fall into reckless habits.
True, she isn’t a natural romantic. But the stability, loyalty, and care she offers are deeply romantic in their own right. And if you tell her she is beautiful, kind, or interesting, she’ll be touched beyond words—because she struggles to see these qualities in herself. She’ll also never forget important details, whether good or bad, and she will remember the little things—like your song—with perfect clarity.
Of course, Venus in Virgo has lessons to learn. Chief among them is holding back criticism at the wrong moment—knowing when silence is kinder than “constructive feedback.” Without this restraint, good and delicate moments can be spoiled. Self-care is also vital, since low self-esteem, perfectionism, and relentless self-criticism can lead to pessimism, burnout, and even depression.
I know this Venus well—I carry her myself. She isn’t an easy companion, even for the one who has her. But despite the struggles, she has her charms.
