Perhaps the atmosphere feels heavy, the temperature seems to drop, or you experience the uncomfortable sensation that someone\u2014or something\u2014is there with you, even though you are completely alone.<\/p>\n

You might catch a fleeting shadow out of the corner of your eye, hear an unexplained sound, or notice your pets staring intently at a space where you can see nothing. Then there may be a strange, damp, musty smell that appears from nowhere and disappears just as mysteriously.
\nIn some spiritual traditions, these experiences are interpreted as possible signs of a troubled spirit\u2014a soul believed to have become caught between worlds following a traumatic or sudden death.<\/p>\n

According to these beliefs, someone who passes away under circumstances involving extreme fear, confusion, violence, or emotional turmoil may struggle to move on. Rather than finding peace, their energy may be perceived as restless, confused, or distressed.
