By Sarah: When a bee comes close, it is said that the universe is listening. In that moment, you may feel called to share a secret, speak your heart, or whisper your struggles.

The bee, a messenger between worlds, carries your words back to the hive — where the collective consciousness of the bees works to weave healing and harmony on an energetic level.

This ancient practice, known as “Telling the Bees,” is far more than folklore. It is a sacred dialogue between human and hive — a way of acknowledging that all beings, great and small, are connected through vibration, emotion, and spirit.

The bees remind us that healing is a shared vibration.
We do not carry our burdens alone;
they are woven into the collective and returned to us as wisdom, sweetness, and renewal.

An Ancient Bond Between Human and Hive

Rooted in agricultural and mystical traditions, Telling the Bees began as a way for beekeepers to share important life events — births, deaths, marriages, and household changes — with their bees. This was not mere superstition; it was an act of reverence.

People understood that bees, as keepers of sweetness and sacred order, were deeply sensitive to human emotion and the subtle energetic shifts that ripple through life.

To speak to the bees was to honor the bond that keeps both human and hive in harmony. It was believed that when the bees were kept informed, their hives thrived — filled with light, balance, and abundant honey. But when neglected, the bees might grow restless or even abandon their home, reflecting the spiritual imbalance of their human kin.

Bees in Myth and Memory

The roots of this custom trace back to Celtic mythology, where bees were revered as messengers between worlds. The Celts believed bees could travel freely between the human and spirit realms, carrying messages to ancestors and divine beings.

If a bee hovered near, it was said to bring a message or blessing. When death entered a home, the bees were told so they could guide the departing soul toward peace. This deep spiritual awareness flowed through generations and found new life in Victorian times, when ritual, nature, and mysticism intertwined once more.

Across Europe and North America, the custom of Telling the Bees took many forms.
In England and Ireland, beekeepers gently tapped the hives or draped them with cloth during mourning, symbolizing shared grief. In Brittany, crimson ribbons were tied around the hives during weddings, inviting the bees to share in the joy.

When settlers carried the tradition to New England and the Appalachian regions, they blended it with their own spiritual practices — covering hives in mourning cloths or softly singing to the bees as offerings of connection.

Each version of the ritual shared one truth: the bees were never seen as mere insects, but as allies in the web of life — tiny, golden keepers of cosmic harmony.

Whispers of the Modern Mystic

Today, a few beekeepers and spiritual seekers still whisper to their bees. Some do it playfully, others reverently — yet all recognize the beauty of this simple act of communion.

Even without scientific proof, the wisdom of the tradition endures:
to speak with nature,
to honor the consciousness in all beings,
and to remember that the energy we share — through words, emotion, or intention — ripples outward in ways unseen.

So the next time a bee drifts near, pause.
Speak your truth softly.
Offer it your gratitude, your joys, your challenges.
Trust that this ancient messenger will carry your words into the humming heart of the hive — where healing, understanding, and love are woven back into the fabric of the world.

“As I speak, I am heard.
As I release, I am renewed.
As the bees hum, the world hums with me.
All is vibration. All is harmony. All is love.”

You don’t have to carry your transformation alone.
This New Earth shift is awakening many to deeper truths — and I’m here to help you navigate it with clarity, healing, and grounded spiritual insight.

Through my readings and energy work, I’ve guided many to rediscover balance, confidence, and purpose.
You can too.

With love and light,
